I, Marlene come from a wonderful family. My dream is to become a lawyer and graduate from a great college. The world around me is really chaotic but I’ve learned to live through it.
My family is very large, there is approximately over a hundred family members. I live with my mother, grandmother, and my four little sisters. My mother has high expectations for my education and me. I come from an average income family that works hard for what they do. I know that I can depend on my family to be there for me when I need them the most.
The community I live in is very friendly and everybody knows everybody. I like to volunteer at my cousin’s daycare called “La Marina”. I go to L.V Stockard Middle School and I enjoy going to learn and be with my friends. To help my community, I give special treats and thanks to everyone that has helped me achieve this far. Sometimes on the weekends I watch my neighbor’s kids while they go to work.
My world shaped me to become a better person and a role model. My twenty- three-year-old cousin was the only one to go to college. She is my inspiration to keep going and never give up. One big aspiration is to graduate at top ten percent of my class. Even though my mother frustrates me about my education, I know she is only trying to help me. I plan to go to the University of California in Los Angeles.
I’m proud of where I come from. I may not have everything, but at least I have a family that cares for me. If I follow the path that they want me to do I know that my dream to be a lawyer will come true.
